Stephen Nothling – Fractured Flowers – Trick of the light

2015-09-10 Embellish (62)2015-09-10 Embellish (61)The Light of Day. 2012 oil on canvas 90cm x 135cmWe are very proud of  our spring collection – Fractured Flowers – inspired by Stephen Nothlings’ delicate and beautiful  rose paintings. His initial  proposal included cutting up an artwork to create a hat. This created a sense of panic- How could I possibly   create something so delicate , ethereal , and hyperreal-  I hope you like my interpretations – and the fact that I kept his beautiful artwork intact and hanging on my studio wall. I am incredibly humbled by his challenge.

Stephen Nothling  began his painting career in 1985 with well over 30 solo shows since.

He was a regular exhibitor at Eva Breuer Gallery in Woollara which has recently closed. His work has been included in many important public exhibitions in state, regional and university galleries. Stephen  has been selected as an Archibald Finalist and made numerous appearances in the Salon des Refuses.

Well known for his eclectic and individual flower compositions, Stephen’s paintings grace the walls of private collections throughout the world, as well as public and commercial institutions including the AGNSW, QAGOMA and Parliament House, Canberra.

Following  this exciting  collaborative exhibition at Embellish Atelier, Stephens next exhibition “The Last Street in Highgate Hill”. opens  in Brisbane in Brisbane City Hall on October 23, 2015 for 3 months. I hope you can get to view this exhibition.

A small and exquisite series of his works “Trick of the Light ” are exhibited at Embellish Atelier  for the Spring Racing Season.

Modelled her by our beautiful  brand ambassador Sarah Jehan – Runner up top model worldwide and captured by George Gittany Photography – You can  even  now wear an original artwork  on  your head.
